The Gurupura river or Phalguni River or sometimes Kulur river [1] has its origins in the Western Ghats, which drains its itself in the Arabian Sea at Mangalore.The New Mangalore port NMPT) and Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers is situated at the northern banks of Phalguni river. Once upon a time it formed northern boundary of Mangalooru city along with Netravathi river as southern boundary.
